Stylist reveals the $15 T-shirt that looks amazing with every outfit
A stylist who creates fashionable outfits on a shoestring budget has shown women how a basic Kmart T-shirt can be used as the foundation for countless ensembles.
Tina Abeysekara, 34, recently built three looks around the $15 ‘Short Sleeved T-Shirt’, which is sold online and in stores across Australia in black and white.
The Sydney blogger said her first look, which features a leopard print midi-skirt, beige heels and a matching bag, could be worn to a job interview, the office or a night on the town.
She described her second look – which features denim jeans, sandals and a drawstring pouch bag – as perfect for working from home or a casual weekend lunch.

Tina’s third look, which features loose linen shorts, an over-sized basket bag and white tennis shoes, is what she calls ‘holiday mode’ – ideal for a day at the beach or strolling around a park.
Photos of the outfits, which have amassed 3,595 ‘likes’ since they were uploaded to Instagram on January 4, have drawn dozens of grateful responses.
Many thanked Tina for showing them it is possible to look stylish without splashing out on expensive clothing.
‘Yes, this is great and exactly what I need! Love the idea,’ one woman replied.
A second said she loved the T-shirt and was impressed by how different Tina had made it look by pairing it with different accessories.
While Tina praised the quality and fit of the black T-shirt, she said the white version was ‘a little see through’.
The top is the latest Kmart find Tina has endorsed to her 112,000 Instagram followers, days after she raved about a $30 mango coloured maxi-dress that’s comfortable enough to run errands in while still being sufficiently glamorous for a night out.
The ‘Sleeveless Tiered Midi’ – which comes in a mango colour called ‘guava’ – usually costs $30 but shoppers say they have seen it reduced to $10 in stores across Australia.
Available in sizes six to 20, the cotton dress has a square neck that is suitable for most bust sizes and a tiered silhouette that hangs loose over the body, in a flattering style for every shape.
Tina’s photos, which have racked up 3,436 ‘likes’ since they were uploaded on Wednesday, have drawn delighted responses.
‘I got this on the weekend on sale for $10, looks amazing on you!’ one woman replied.
A second added: ‘Love it Tina! I got this one too and have worn it so much.’
A third tagged her friends and wrote: ‘I need this dress.’
The budget-friendly piece has also won praise from Tina’s fellow influencers.
‘Gorgeous colour on you,’ Melbourne mummy blogger Helen James wrote.
‘Looks lovely,’ added Canberra stylist, ‘This is Genevieve’.
Brisbane fashion blogger Jess Allen said she ‘loves’ the dress while Melbourne designer Neha called it a ‘gorgeous combo’ with the sandals and basket bag Tina used as accessories in her photos.
